Feb 10th 2003 New York. The release of NetVIOS School Manager 2.0 was announced today after about two months of beta testing. The sofware promises a one-stop, complete school management system taking care of the academic, administrative, and social aspects of a school website. Intended to obviate expensive duplicative features and multiple user databases inherent in current systems, NetVIOS school manager contains:
- Course Management System
including course registration and approval, course grading, course evaluation, and course scheduling system.
- Online Web Classes
integrating Linktivity's WebDemo application to use the same school user database of faculty, students, and administrators, all linked with course management scheduling
- Interactive Classes
utilizing class chat rooms, and messageboards
- Intra-campus communication
utilizing instant messaging for communications and online memos, and messageboards for discussions
- Content Management System
enables real-time, online, secure and partitioned management access to course and department web pages allowing the relevant administrative user to take charge of their own web pages with little assistance from IT technical staff.
The entire system promises subtantial savings in IT software and integration costs and assures a harmonius coordination of school activities with less duplication of user data, obviating multiple logins to disparate systems and reducing the manual exchange of data between different systems and applications.
A test website has been set up at http://academic.netvios.com. Instructors and administrators can test drive the front end features or schedule to attend one of our ongoing web conferences demonstrating the back-end features and fielding specific questions regarding implementation and deployment.
